  Weather in BC

Along Highway 29, there are only a few campgrounds, the largest of which is Moberly Lake Provincial Park, on the south shore of Moberly Lake. Moberly Lake, a long and narrow body of water encircled by a typical boreal forest, is a popular getaway for residents and nonresidents alike.

In the far north, lakes may be either too shallow or too deep, and fish stocks don't do well. Shallow water freezes solid in winter, while deeper lakes never really warm up in summer, stunting fish growth. With that said, there are fish beyond count in these waters, both wild and introduced. Prime species at Moberly Lake include northern pike, bull trout, lake trout and whitefish.

It is almost impossible not to observe wildlife as you travel through the Northeast, the co-called 'Serengeti of North America.' You are able to learn about the spectacular wildlife fauna, flora and history of the park at the interpretation kiosk located near the horseshoe pits.

The park hosts the usual variety of water-related activities, swimming, fishing, canoeing, boating, sailing, as well as boasting 109 vehicle/tent sites for overnighting. You can reserve a campsite here by calling BC Parks' reservation line; although Moberly Lake is a popular getaway, there are usually a few spaces open for latecomers on all but the busiest of weekends. Basic facilities include picnic tables, pit toilets, fire pits, firewood and water, a sani-station, a boat launch and a large picnic/day-use area with a shelter. The campground is open from May to September.

Moberly Lake Provincial Park is located in northeast British Columbia, 12.5 miles (20 km) west of Hudson’s Hope off Highway 29.
